چکیده
The conversion of D-fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) on a 1 mmol scale was achieved in good yield (68%) using NH(4)Cl as catalyst in isopropanol at 120°C. About 3% of 5-i-propoxymethylfurfural was formed. The reaction in ethanol at 100°C on a 10g scale gave a total yield of HMF and 5-ethoxymethylfurfural of 42%. No mineral acid such as H(2)SO(4) and HCl are required.

Catalytic Conversion of Carbohydrates to Furanic Derivatives in the Presence of Choline Chloride
The synthesis of furanic derivatives (5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), furfural . . . ) from carbohydrates is of high interest for a wide range of applications. These reactions are carried out in the presence of various solvents, and among them choline chloride can be used. It is a salt that can form a low melting mixture with a carbohydrate (fructose, glucose . . . ) or a deep eutectic mixture w...

The effects of 15 inorganic and organic acid potassium salts on hydrothermal decomposition of glucose, fructose and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) were investigated at 180°C. The rate constants for glucose, fructose and 5-HMF decomposition with anions were calculated by a pseudo first-order equation, and the impact factors of the rate constants were calculated, to demonstrate the catalytic eff...
متن کاملEfficient and selective conversion of sucrose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural promoted by ammonium halides under mild conditions.
The highly efficient and selective production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) from sucrose has been achieved in the presence of metal chlorides and ammonium halides under mild conditions. Notably, an 87% yield of HMF from sucrose was obtained with a catalyst system composed of CrCl(3) and NH(4)Br at 100°C for 1.0 h in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) solvent. The effect of the reaction temperature...
متن کاملCatalytic Conversion of Biomass-derived Carbohydrates into 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural using a Strong Solid Acid Catalyst in Aqueous γ-Valerolactone
Selective conversion of biomass-derived carbohydrates into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is of great significance for biomass conversion. In this study, a novel solid Brønsted acid was prepared simply by the copolymerization of paraformaldehyde and p-toluenesulfonic acid and then used to catalyze the conversion of various carbohydrates into HMF in γ-valerolactone-water (GVL/H2O) reaction medium...
متن کاملOne-pot conversion of disaccharide into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural catalyzed by imidazole ionic liquid
Conversion of carbohydrate into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5- HMF), a versatile, key renewable platform compound is regarded as an important transformation in biomass-derived carbohydrate chemistry. A variety of ILs, not only acidic but also alkaline ILs, were synthesized and used as catalyst in the production of 5-HMF from disaccharide. Several factors including reaction temperature, IL dosage, ...
